Team Leading Qualifications

Impact is currently approved by ILM (the Institute of Leadership and Management) to deliver two team leading qualifications:

• The Level 2 Award in Team Leading
• The Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading

 

The Level 2 Award in Team Leading

This qualification is aimed at new or aspiring first line team leaders or managers. It is a concise qualification designed to give students an introduction to the basic skills, knowledge and understanding required by today's first line manager. It covers practical techniques for tackling managerial problems and making decisions from gathering and interpreting information through to the effective communication of outcomes.

In order to gain the Award students must achieve a total of 3 credits. One of these is the mandatory unit ("Developing yourself as a team leader"). The other two come from a list of optional units.

The course duration depends on you, but is typically about 3-6 weeks from start to finish.

The Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading

This qualification is aimed at new or aspiring first line team leaders or managers. It is a rigorous qualification designed to give students a basic knowledge of the various roles, functions and responsibilities of a team leader/manager, and also the limits of their authority and accountability. It also covers practical techniques in motivating teams, planning and monitoring work.

Students may take this Certificate as a standalone qualification, or they may have already achieved three of the necessary credits by completing the ILM Level 2 Award in Team Leading.

In order to gain the Certificate students must achieve a total of 13 credits. Four of these are the mandatory units ("Developing yourself as a team leader", "Motivating the work team to perform" and "Planning and monitoring work"). The other nine come from a list of optional units.

The course duration depends on you, but is typically about 3-6 months from start to finish.
